For those of us in the U.S. starting today telemarketers can bombard our cell phones with calls. To avoid this, call the toll-free number: 888-382-1222. You have to be calling from the cell phone which you wish to register for the do not call list. Another way to register your cell phone or any other phone on the do not call list is to visit www.donotcall.gov.

I don't believe this is true. We've seen this a bunch of times. Plus I looked it up on snopes.com and came up with a few claims like this.

It is basically saying the same thing, just worded differently.

Actually the bastard tell a marketers have been trying my cell, I was blaming someone I knew for calling me restricted on my cell. So finally I had enough, picked it up, and used a lot of four lettered words. Well the person on the other end didn't know what to say, so I figured out it wasn't a certain person doing the restricted calls, LOL. But ever since I yelled at them, they quit calling.

I called the number, and it is definitely for registering your phone on the do not call list. And, a few years ago when the do not call website came out, I registered my home phone and have not gotten telemarketers since then, so it does work. Now keep in mind that your bank and any other business you have done business with in the last 30 days is still allowed to call, but you will stop all the random calls by registering. At least it worked for me. And, if you get calls from places you do business with but want them to stop, you can tell them to put you on their do not call list, and they are supposed to honor that request.
